Our school facilities are many
and varied and are constantly being developed to meet the ever-changing needs
of our student body. Our existing facilities include:
School Library On the 13th of June, 2011, best-selling children’s author, Roddy Doyle, did us the great honour of visiting our school to officially open our new library. It was a hugely exciting day for the children of Scoil Mhuire to be in the presence of such a renowned, talented and respected novelist. Roddy delivered a personal reading from his own best-selling novel, ‘The Giggler Treatment’, in a whole-school assembly and kindly answered a range of questions from the students before cutting the ribbon and officially opening up our bright new library area.
The
success of the Scoil Mhuire library is greatly attributed to a number of dedicated
parent volunteers who kindly take responsibility for the resourcing, maintenance
and day-to-day running of the library for each of the classes in our school.
ICT Room Children are exposed to technology both in the classroom (where ICT is used to enhance the teaching and learning experience) and through use of the personal computers in our well-resourced ICT Room.
The Scoil Mhuire ICT Room was officially opened by Uachtarán na hĒireann, President Mary McAleese, during The Jubilee Year (2003-2004). Children get the opportunity to consolidate work done in class through the medium of ICT and develop important skills for use going forward in our continually evolving digital society.
Oratory The Oratory provides a quiet sanctuary amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday school life. It is a peaceful space adorned with comfortable seating, an Alter and tabernacle, ideal for story-telling, quiet reflection or group meditation.
Art Room The Scoil Mhuire Art Room was developed in 2009 in order to provide our pupils with a comfortable, spacious working environment outside of the classroom. This space enables both individual and group art activities.
School Hall and Stage Area The well-sized school hall plays host to our whole-school assemblies, not to mention our pride and joy; our annual whole-school concert extravaganza!
School yard & Sporting Grounds We are extremely fortunate in Scoil Mhuire; not only do we have a generously sized school yard, Marino College also allow us access to the extensive sporting grounds at the back of our school grounds.
