Dragons Den in Scoil Mhuire

posted 13 Jun 2016, 03:58 by web master   [ updated 14 Jun 2016, 00:34 ]
This week the boys in fifth class were very lucky to be involved in an initiative based on the television programme 'Dragons Den'. On Wednesday we had two representatives from the local Bank of Ireland in Marino, Gary Holligan and Laura Power. They presented the idea to the boys and explained the various processes involved in setting up a business. In groups the boys brainstormed ideas for their business, created a business plan, recorded television adverts, made posters to market their organisation and registered their businesses.

On Thursday each group pitched their business to guest dragons, David Petherbridge and Gary Holligan and requested funding for various percentages of their business. Businesses included; The Shake Shop milkshake shop, Zizzles electric cars, C+A Sports, Shappy Shacks Family Restaurant and many more.
This was a fantastic initiative for the boys to be involved in and they practiced skills which they would ordinarily not have the opportunity to be exposed to.
Special thanks goes to Bank of Ireland, Marino Mart, Gary Holligan, Laura Power and David Petherbridge for bringing Dragons Den to Scoil Mhuire.
