Dear Parents/Guardians,

A pupil in Scoil Mhuire has an airborne nut allergy. This allergy can be potentially life-threatening. We are asking for your help in providing this child with a safe and happy school year.

Due to the serious nature of this allergy and further to the fact that we have other students in the school who have nut allergies, the Board of Management now feel it appropriate to ban all nut products from the school starting on September 1st 2014.

We need a nut free environment in our school. We are requesting that you do not send in any snacks containing nut products. Please do not give your child any nut-based products, for example, peanut butter, nutella and pesto. We would also ask that you check the ingredients of any bars that you will send into school.

We try to do everything possible to accommodate the important needs of each individual student. We cannot emphasise enough that this is a potentially life-threatening allergy and it requires the cooperation of all parents. We greatly appreciate your support and trust that you understand the serious nature of this matter.
Ben Dorney (Principal)
